MEET UP AND COMING DESIGNER
CHARLOTTE ROSE MASTIN, THE
WHITEHOUSE INSTITUTE OF DESIGN
GRADUATE, WINNER OF THE WITCHERY
WHITE SHIRT DESIGN AWARD AND THE
FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN FASHION.
“Honestly, I can’t tell you how much it means to me,”
effuses Charlotte Rose Mastin of her recent win. Of a
possible 65 candidates, the Newcastle-born student’s
winning design was a stand-out for its innovation
and details, a signature of Mastin’s careful hand.
Raised on a thoroughbred stud in the country town
of Scone in New South Wales, Mastin spent her
youth riding horses and motorbikes before turning
her attentions to all things sartorial.
Produced as part of this year’s White Shirt collection,
all proceeds from each of Mastin’s shirt design sold
(excluding GST) will be donated to the Ovarian
Cancer Research Foundation to fund much-needed
research into the development of an early detection
test. “Having personally felt the devastating wrath
of ovarian cancer, I was honoured by the thought
of potentially playing a part in such an incredible
campaign,” explains Mastin.
